So Much Going On!!!
Since the site went live so many things have happened and are ongoing!
The Exterminati Sunt Mechanica series got its first full public “showing” in November at the Durham Art Walk, with the exception of the yet to be concepted but not realized LUN4R M0TH and M4NT15. Much to my surprise the moth sold on concept alone, and became a “phantom centerpiece.” It also had the side effect of launching a new series of Mechanica butterflies, which you’ll be seeing more of shortly.
Our photo-guru Ian Wilson juried into the Contemporary South exhibition with his stark and compelling Apartment in Lund, and even took an Honorable Mention overall!
Ian’s wanderings, though for work this time, once again take us on an unexpected journey. As he so often likes to quote, “Not all who wander are lost.” Nicely done, sir!
Meanwhile, back at the Hall of Monkeys…
John and Anne-Marie both have pieces at Raleigh’s Visual Art Exchange for the February Member Challenge. Aborio Violetto, by Anne-Marie, is a lovely study in the contrast of royal violet and sage, with stark yet elegant forms set off in black.
John submitted GR455H0PP3R from the Exterminati series,
which was one of the only ones available, as nine pieces from the series currently are on exhibition at Artspace in Raleigh, NC (www.artspacenc.org) in the First Floor Corridors until April 18, 2015. Be sure to check out the exhibits at the VAE and at Artspace!
Jason Williams has been selected as one of 25 artists – from a field of 104 – to debut his watercolour work for display and sale at the North Ridge Country Club Art Gala on the strength of his piece, Green Viscera. This watercolour series is amazing – we can’t wait for the show!
Whew! Stay tuned for more Zendustria happenings!
